Lore Mode — Trial V

Identify the Character from Ancient Lore Passages

About Lore Mode

Lore mode displays a passage drawn from Elden Ring’s item descriptions and lore texts, and asks you to identify the character it describes. FromSoftware’s storytelling lives in these fragments rather than in cutscenes, so a careful reader of the Lands Between will feel right at home. A passage about a queen of the Full Moon who shattered her own mind to escape a loveless marriage describes Ranni; one about a demigod whose horse rides between worlds and who fought back the stars themselves points to Radahn; a passage about an Omen exiled beneath Leyndell to guard the capital he was forbidden to rule points to Morgott, the King of the Omen.

How to Play Lore Mode

  1. Read the lore passage and note any names, titles, places, or relationships.
  2. Determine which character the text is about.
  3. Submit your answer and refine it using the feedback.

Tips & Strategies

  • References to family ties, factions, or the Shattering often pinpoint a single figure — Marika’s children (Godwyn, Morgott, Mohg, Radahn, Rykard, Miquella, Malenia) are each tied to a distinct region and story arc.
  • Item descriptions frequently name the original owner of a weapon or talisman, so a passage mentioning a "sacred spear" or "cursed sword" is often literally describing Mohg’s or Morgott’s signature weapon.
  • Cross-reference locations mentioned in the passage with characters tied to that region — a passage set in Mt. Gelmir or Volcano Manor almost always concerns Rykard, just as one set in the Shadow Realm often concerns Messmer, Miquella, or Midra.
  • Passages about rot, disease, or "the scarlet" usually connect to Malenia, Romina, or the Scarlet Rot itself rather than the Golden Order faithful.
  • Titles like "Empyrean," "Omen," or "Demi-god" in a passage narrow the answer to a small, specific set of Marika’s bloodline or their closest attendants.
  • Passages that read like a eulogy or a warning about a fallen champion — rather than a living figure — often describe Godwyn the Golden, whose death before the story begins still shapes nearly everything that happens in the Lands Between.
