Ability Mode — Trial III
Guess the Character Connected to a Spell or Ash of War
Ability Mode presents the name and in-game description of a Sorcery, Incantation, or Ash of War from
Elden Ring. Your challenge is to identify which character is most closely associated with that ability —
the boss who wields it, the NPC who teaches it, or the figure whose very legacy gave birth to those powers.
How to Play Ability Mode
- Read the ability name and its full in-game description carefully.
- Consider which boss, NPC, or faction the ability is named after or thematically connected to.
- Type the character's name into the search field and submit your guess.
- Each wrong guess registers your attempt; keep guessing until you find the correct character.
Tips & Strategies
- Learn which magic schools belong to which factions — Carian sorceries trace to Raya Lucaria and the Carian Royal Family.
- Boss-derived Ashes of War are almost always named directly after the boss who uses them in combat.
- Dragon Communion Incantations point to Dragonlord-adjacent characters and those who consumed dragon hearts.
- Erdtree Incantations connect to the Golden Order and Marika's chosen champions.
- Fire Giant and fire-themed Incantations reference characters tied to the Fell God and the sacrificial rite.
- Night and Shadow spells from the DLC belong to figures of the Shadowlands and Messmer's legacy.
Ability Types in the Pool
- Sorceries — Carian star-blade spells, glintstone sorceries, gravity magic, and death sorceries.

- Ashes of War — Combat techniques derived from or named after bosses and legendary warriors of the Lands Between.
- DLC Abilities — Night-themed sorceries, shadow flame incantations, and abilities from Shadow of the Erdtree.
